Following the heatwave that we have been experiencing over the last few weeks the usual summer weather hit last week bringing wind and rain so It was time to get out with the Littlest Holga and some lovely ilford HP5 to shoot the gloom only as a Holga can.

Week two with the Littlest Holga and it was a trip to the classic car show on the streets of Bridgend Town.
It was a lovely day so I decided to chance my arm am shoot a roll of Kodak Ektachrome 100VS which I was pleased to report worked pretty well.
So here are the images … all shot on the Sunny f11 aperture which may have been a little better if I had used the cloudy f8 setting just to brighten them up a bit but hey ho on to the next roll …

On Twitter for quite a while there has been a sort of shared project going on arranged by a fellow twitter photographer Sandeep @givemeabiscuit where a Holga 120 camera along with a box of accessories like filters/special effects lens stuff has been passed around various photographers worldwide who get to keep the kit for a couple of weeks and then share the resultant images on twitter.
Last week it became my turn to have an adventure with the “Littlest Holga” … it has its own twitter account by the way 😉
I already have a pretty beat up Holga which I have never managed to get very many images that I was happy with so this chance to play with another model which has yielded excellent results by other photographers was quite exciting.
This is the results from my 1st roll which was some ilford FP4+, I tried using a Red filter on the lens to give the contrast a bit of a boost as the day I shot the roll was very bright and sunny.
I am not sure if it made a big difference but I was happy with the roll which gave me 11 images out of 12 that I am happy to share.
So here are the images and I will blog every roll that I shoot good or bad in the next few weeks … next roll will be some Kodak Ektachrome E100VS so fingers crossed for that one 🙂

I have probably said loads of times on this blog that ilford HP5 is by far my favourite B&W film stock.
I love the contrast and grain especially when pushed to 1600 iso and beyond.
I mainly shoot it in 35mm with the odd roll in 120 now and again so when I got my Fuji GW690iii I was eager to see how it looks in 6×9 format.
I shot it at box speed and developed it in ilfotecHC at 1+31 dilution and I was not disappointed with the results.

A short little blog post today.
As my C41 chemistry has gone off I have been sending my films off to the wonderful Filmdev to process and scan.
If I didn’t shoot so many rolls I would gladly give all my film to them as they are such an awesome lab but it would get really expensive so I will treat myself once or twice a month and carry on sending certain rolls to them as the results are brilliant.
Anyway this is a roll of my favourite Fuji Reala shot in the Fuji GW690iii the other weekend while out up the mountain in glorious sunshine.
I love how reala renders greens especially in good light and all these frames have an abundance of green to savour … ha ha

In the past couple of weeks we have had a few days of quite heavy snow … the images here are from our 1st encounter with the “Beast from the East”.
The camera/film combination were Mamiya 645 & Fuji Acros 100 and Yashicamat 124G on expired ilford FP4+
The subject matter for both sets of images are mostly the same so that you can make some sort of comparison of the 2 different films.
Firstly the Mamiya 645/Acros :
Next a few from the Yashicamat/FP4+
Both films worked well exposure wise with all the snow with the Acros probably coming out on top sharpness wise but considering the FP4+ was long expired it also looked pretty good.
After this snowfall cleared up we experienced another un-seasonal snow storm last weekend which will follow in the next blog post … this time with colour negative stock.

Over the past few weeks I have been buying zines from fellow photographers that I am friends with on twitter and other social media which encouraged me to produce my own.
I have an ongoing personal project that features artists of various differing types in their place of work which is a thoroughly enjoyable thing to do personally but also gives me plenty of material for this type of zine.
Here are a few sample pages ….
It’s been great fun to do and the finished zine was everything I hoped for also artist”Kevin Sinnott” whom this zine features also loves it which is a bonus for me.
This edition is a limited run of 30 copies 28 pages full colour on 150gm silk paper of which I only have a few left thanks to some of my twitter followers and Kevin himself who wanted some for his studio.

This month’s entries were taken using my Canon AE1 Program and my YashicaMat 124G … both with ilford FP4 rated at 200 iso and developed in ilfotec HC.
Luckily we had a bit of snow during shoot week so it gave the images a bit of a theme for a change ….
Obviously the square images are with the Yashica ……
I think I will probably keep shooting FP4 at 200 are it gives a little bit more versatility without really effecting the images grain/sharpness wise.
I don’t have anymore FP4 in 120 format so I need to get some before the next party starts in January.

For a change usually when I get a nice long weekend off be it summer or winter I always seem to pick the days with rubbish weather but luckily for me last weekend I got a good one.
As I still have my Tetenal E6 kit mixed from the end of the summer I decided to shoot some slide film before the chemistry went off.
As I had not shot Ektachrome for ages and with Kodak hopefully bringing back the emulsion shortly I decided to shoot 2 rolls over 2 days in both 120 and 35mm ( which will be in part 2).
I went out mid Sunday morning with the Yashicamat 124G hoping to catch some nice light on the autumn leaves/trees.
The light did not disappoint and maybe for the 1st time ever I managed to get 12 keepers from a roll of 120.
I set the meter at 80 iso and tried to meter for the shadows hoping not to blow the highlights too much.
When shooting in bright sunlight the colours really pop really enhancing the autumn colours I can’t wait to get my hands on the “New” Ektachrome when it eventually appears.

Last week I managed to source some of my favorite colour negative film Fuji Reala from ebay and along side of the Reala the vendor also had some Kodak Vericolor II which I also bought to give it a try.
I have previously shot a roll of Vericolor III that I had been given and really liked the muted tone that I gave so I was hoping that this gave similar results.
I decided to take the Mamiya C330 for a run out as I had been neglecting it over the Yashica Mat 124G recently, I used both the 80mm f2.8 and 65mm f3.5.
Here are the images, only 9 as the other 3 were bracketed shots …. 
It was an overcast day with glimpses of sunshine now and again.
I rated the roll at 80 iso with my Sekonic meter which was pretty much spot on.
If I shoot the next roll in brighter conditions I could probably rate the film at 100 or even box speed as it didn’t seem to have lost a lot of sensitivity even though the 2 boxes had expired back in 1994 🙂
