Wales……A Grandslam Weekend.

A really special weekend here in Wales as we had one more game to win in order to secure the Grandslam in the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

France the world Cup finalists came to Cardiff trying to spoil the day but the welsh team did us all proud and won the championship and Grandslam to boot.

I arrived in Cardiff early as last week when we entertained the Italian side the trains from Bridgend were jammed packed and I was determined to get there a bit earlier to capture some of the atmosphere in the streets with my trusty little Olympus E-PL1.

The French supporters were very entertaining and were extremely willing to pose for some photographs, it was a pleasure to roam the streets camera in hand capturing the flavour of the day.

The Olympus performed very well even though I could not get the nice shallow DOF I can with my SLR and 30mm f1.4 I was happy with the shots it gave me.

I Shoot People………….

I have no speciality when it comes to my photography, not being a Professional and having to earn my living at it so my photos are very varied.

The one thing that I have found over the last couple of years is that I enjoy shooting people more and more.

I have off camera flashes and studio lights but much prefer take photographs of people either candidly or much better after meeting them when I am out and about and taking an informal type of portrait.

Since getting back into film recently I am looking forward to shooting in this style on various types of film camera and waiting in anticipation for the results……..

Here is a little selection of shots, so of which I have posted on the web previously but some are new.

Comments as always very welcome…….

Snow comes to the Valley…………

The weather forecast was for snow to arrive here in South Wales around 10am on Saturday and they were not wrong, it snowed until late afternoon when sadly it turned to rain but as it was still extremely cold overnight most of the remaining snow has turned to ice.

Because it was snowing while we went out for a walk I didn’t really want to take my DSLR so used my trusty Olympus E-PL1 and as it is always in my pocket my iPhone4 using Hipstamatic.

The iPhone shots used the combination of the James M lens with Ina’s 1969 film.

While the Olympus was set to Pinhole mode and the emulsion frame effect was added in Photoshop.

A Day at the Fair…….

I was testing out my new Sigma 30mm f1.4 and went down Porthcawl on a nice sunny day where I saw this couple sitting in the middle of the fairground. I took a few quick snaps but they looked so interesting I asked if I could take their portrait, they were shocked that someone wanted to take their picture but duly obliged.

A quick candid from yesterdays Wedding shoot……….

Started to edit photos from my first wedding shoot for Bethan & Ian.

I really liked this candid snap taken during the hair and makeup leg of what was a very long day, but enjoyable nevertheless.
